Even though we live in a society and interact with others, in some ways we are still isolated. This isolation can be emotional, cognitive, or existential. Even though we share our lives and experiences with others, each person's inner world and personal experience remains unique, which leads to an inherent sense of isolation. Everyone is an island to some extent.
